Banana Chips

Banana chips are deep fried slices of unripe bananas, covered with sugar or honey. The chips are crispy and have a sweet taste. But when I was in Thailand, it was my first time to have tasted a salty banana chips. Instead of covering the banana chips with sugar, you can have the salt for a variety.

banana chipsToday, I will be sharing to you a banana chips that is covered with sugar. As you will see in the photo, the banana chip has a glossy look because of the sugar on it. Actually, I haven’t copied the recipe for this but I will just give you what I have observed while my classmates were cooking this one.

Ingredients:

-Unripe Bananas (in the Philippines, the “Saba” type of banana is usually good for this kind of cooking)

- Cooking Oil

- Sugar

- Water

Procedure:

  1. Heat the oil in a pan.
  2. Deep fry the bananas until golden brown.
  3. Place all the bananas in wide shallow container and set aside.
  4. In a jar, mix 1 cup of sugar and 3 cups of water and stir continuously.
  5. When the sugar has melted, pour the mixture on the fried bananas and mix thoroughly.
  6. Deep fry the bananas again for a few minutes.

There you go… this is very economical and perfect for daytime snacks.

Eating at Greenwich Pizza (Part 1)

My hubby and I love to eat at Greenwich Pizza because we like their spaghetti and fried chicken. We often eat Greenwich Ororama because it is near to the place where we hold our church meetings. We love their food but there is this long time of WAITING. They will tell you that your order will be available in 10 to 15 minutes but it could even reach 30 minutes.

One time, we ordered for a fried chicken and a spaghetti  again. The lady told us that their chicken will be available for 20 minutes. They asked us if we are willing to wait. We told them we can’t wait that long, so we opt for another order.  We were there in our table waiting for our order to be served. I guess it’s already 20 minutes more and yet the food is not yet there. We could have ordered a chicken instead because the waiting time is still the same. After a few minutes, I saw the other table being served with their order.  I saw that there order was a fried chicken, so I stood up about to burst because of the delay of my order. But then, I still tried to control my temper and asked one of their staff.  I told them “I did not order for a fried chicken because you told me that it will going to take for 20 minutes. Hoping I will not be waiting that long, I opted for another order. But then, why is my food still not available? Can I replace my order with the chicken instead? The lady replied “ Oh mam, that can’t be because we have already recorded your order…. “ What??? My appetite for food was really lost at that time. Their manager saw me and said it’s okay.  Thank God!!! I immediately asked them to just pack my order and decided to just eat in the car.

A Chat With The Nutritionists

When I was invited on the birthday celebration by my high school friend Sheryl, I got the opportunity to meet and talk to her co-workers. Sheryl is a Nutritionist by profession and so are her co-workers. I was so amazed while talking to them because I got some additional information about food, diet and diseases that were cause by wrong choice of food. One of the topics that we have talked about was on the issue on diet. They said that it is never good to go on Fruit diet alone, because you will end up having gastritis. If you also opt to go on a pure vegetable diet, you will also end up being a weakling. According to them the best thing that you need to do is to have a BALANCE diet. Because a balanced diet enables us to obtain all essential nutrients present in a wide range of foods. It also provides a good supply of vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients ensuring optimum health.

While listening to them, I was a bit conscious and tried to check what’s inside my plate. Thank God, I made the right choice of food that night.(LOL!)
