Dengue Outbreak

People are cautious about mosquito bites because it might cause them dengue fever. Dengue Fever is a febrile disease which can be life threatening. That is why this disease is very dangerous to children as well as children. According to studies this disease manifest as a fever associated with muscle and joint pains and rash. Some of my friends are in the hospital right now because of dengue fever. I am praying that they will be better soon. I hope that God will also provide them with the finances that they will need in the hospital. I know how it feels to be thinking about hospital bills and other stuff. Good for people in North Carolina because they have NC short term health insurance and they don’t have to worry about hospital bills and other medical expenses.

Back to dengue outbreak, the Department of Health is now urging every individuals to participate in cleaning the environment. Clean those areas that have stagnant waters and keep yourself protected with insect repellents.

A Visit to the Eye Doctor

My grandmother asked me to accompany her to her eye doctor. I gladly said yes because I am also interested to have my eyes check. Lately, I have been experiencing dizziness and thought maybe the problem is with my eyes. So, we went to the doctor together.

We went inside the doctor’s clinic together. My grandmother’s eyes was checked first. The doctor asked her to read those letters on the wall but she couldn’t mention the letters correctly. I thought the doctor would prescribe her with bifocal safety glasses but her eyes needs cornea replacement. After a few minutes of explanation about my grandmother’s eye she have my eyes checked. Again, she told me to read those letters on the wall and I can read it clearly and correctly. He had me stand up and sit down, walk in line and asked me to raise my hands up and down. She was asking some details about my dizziness and she gave me a conclusion that it was positional vertigo. It has nothing to do with my eyes. He told me that there’s no medication for positional vertigo but he can gave me a medicine that would help me with my dizziness. I was glad to find out that my eyes are very okay.

Nutrition Month 2010

Every school here in the Philippines celebrates Nutrition Month in the month of July. I find this activity very helpful to little children because it gives them the opportunity to be reminded to eat the right kinds of food. When I was still in high school, I couldn’t forget our cooking contest were all the participants are required to cook a nutritious meal. My classmate was our representative and we were very happy that she won. Her recipe was “Pineapple Chicken with Milk”. After the contest, we all ate the dish she prepared.

Anyway, we also had our Nutrition Month celebration in our school last July 31, 2010. It was a short program for our pre-school kids and we all had fun witnessing their talents in dancing. The kids were also very happy because we had so much fun in the games like the Bring-Me game and the funniest banana eating contest.

It was truly a fun activity for all of us.

Three months ago, my husband rushed me to the hospital because I had difficulty breathing because of asthma. As I entered the emergency room, the medical staff immediately took a pulse oximeters to measure the oxygen saturation in my blood. They were alarmed because my oxygenation was not normal. The doctor gave me anti-asthma medication twice but after a while they advised me to be confined in the hospital. I was admitted for 7 days because the doctor wanted to make it sure that I will not be coming back to the hospital again. After 7 days of staying in the hospital, I felt better. I am currently taking some anti-asthma maintenance and I’m scheduled to visit my doctor after 3 months time.

A Chain Smoker Kid

I was reading some news online and I was so shocked to find about this 2 year old boy named Ardi Rizal. He is an Indonesian boy who smokes 40 cigarettes a day. Could it be he’s smoking Acid cigars or just ordinary cigars? We’ll I don’t know but I was so surprised that his very own father gave him his first cigarette when he was still 18th months old. Gosh!!! What was he thinking?

According to the parents, Ardi is already addicted to it and when he doesn’t gets cigarette he gets angry, screams and batters himself to the wall.

Recent update on this news was that, the government was already helping Ardi about his situation. His parents are also undergoing counseling. Well, I guess this is a good news for Ardi and his parents.

I just hope all will be well with them.

Can’t Stop Eating

My brother was advised by his doctor to lose some weight because he needs to prepare for his operation. The doctor told him to go on a strict diet and to limit his food intake. When the doctor was telling these things to him, he was smiling because it’s going to be a very big problem for him. My brother is very fat and it seems that his appetite for food is so good. Until now, he hasn’t lost some weight because he still loves to eat and can’t go on a strict diet. I think he needs to take phentramine to help him suppress his appetite to help loose weight in preparation for his operation.

Overeating

My brother was sick last month and the doctor’s first advice for him was to loose weight. He has gained a lot of pounds because he ates 3 cups of rice per meal, eats heavy snacks twice, and he eat whenever he feels like eating. The doctor told him that his sickness might only recur if he hasn’t taken any steps to loose weight. Maybe a 7-dfbx and exercise might help. He also needs to limit his food intake and say goodbye to his habit of overeating. Well, I just hope all of these will do.

Medication Side Effects

I’m on asthma medication for 3 months. So far I find the medicines very effective because I don’t have any attacks since I started the medication a month ago. Just that I find some rashes developing on my face and it looks like pimples. When I tried to read about the medicine’s side effects online, I’ve found out that there are a few individuals complaining about acne developing on their face due to prolong use of the medicine. Oh my, I hope the rashes on my face isn’t acne. If that’s the case, I need to find effective acne products to treat this problem on my face.

Eye Problem?

I am always feeling dizzy these days. I always felt as if my world is turning around. Sometimes, my eyes hurts so bad that I felt like I’m having a terrible headache. I thought there’s a problem with my eye and planned to have it checked.

Today, my grandmother asked me to accompany her to an eye doctor because she wanted to have her eyes checked. I gladly agreed to accompany her because I am also interested to have my eyes checked. Just this afternoon, we had our eyes checked. The good news is, my eyes are very okay. The problem about dizziness is cause by positional vertigo, due to colds and rhinitis.

I am glad that I don’t have problems with my eyes. That means to say, I can have more time blogging and browse updates online (lol).

Need Some Exercise…

Last Monday, I went to see my doctor for a regular check up. The doctor told me that my asthma is getting better but I will still have to maintain the medication for 3 months. He also suggested to try to have some exercise in order to find out how would my lungs react to extreme activities like doing some body exercise. So today I checked on some videos on YouTube, looking for the best exercise videos that would suit me. I was so surprised to find this:

This video looks funny, but I appreciate the woman’s determination on loosing some extra fats on her body.
