Fun with Word Games

Word games are an amusing hobby and a great way to kill time. It also provides an excellent opportunity for family bonding and team building. They are not just fun, but they are also educational, which helps improve vocabulary. It will also help you think more intensely about words and increase your knowledge of unfamiliar words. Below are some of the word games I played during my childhood and up until today.

Word Search

One of my favorite word games is Word Search. When I was still in grade school, I asked my mom to buy me a book that contained several word search pages, and all I had to do was circle all the hidden words. In today’s times, you can play word search online. With just a mouse click, you can now highlight all the words written in straight lines, forwards, backward, up and down, and diagonally.

If you are into word games, you can try the Daily Word Search game, which I recently tried. Each day this game offers another level to play and helps you think more seriously about words. Moreover, it will sharpen your eyesight in searching for the listed words.

Crosswords

A few years ago, I usually bought newspapers not because I was excited about the latest news but because I was after the crossword page. I got excited answering and filling those grids of white and black squares until I transitioned myself into answering crosswords in booklets and books.

Today, there are free crossword games online. I like it so much that I can now play crosswords by just using my cellphone. It is an excellent game to increase vocabulary and learn about new words and definitions.

If you are looking for a crossword game online, you may try the Daily Crossword Puzzle. It’s an exciting crossword as it provides a new puzzle to solve every day. Not only that, you may find the puzzle a bit challenging at first, but when you get the hang of it, it will be effortless in the long run.

Scrabble

Scrabble is one of my childhood word games. I usually play this game with my cousins using the board and the small tiles. It’s a great game to learn about spelling and increase vocabulary. It is a game played by two or more people, and most of the time, if you don’t have someone to play with, this game can be a bit boring.

Good thing you can now play crosswords online. A similar game I found online is the Letter Scramble game. You will surely love this game as it is easier than playing scrabble. You will have to form the words as quickly as possible as there is a time limit on each level.

It Can Make You Happy

One of the benefits of playing word games is that it can make you happy. According to studies, playing word games increases vocabulary and releases feel-good substances in the body. Endorphins are released while a person is engaged in a fun and engaging activity. So, what are you waiting for? It’s time to play and be happy!
